Epic Games Store Free Games October Pattern Suggests Horror Fans Should Be Excited

Epic Games Store users have reason to be excited about the free game deals this week if an established pattern is any indication.

A template that Epic established for the Epic Games Store October free games should get horror fans excited. The Epic Games Store has been giving away free games every week for years, ranging from small indie games to AAA blockbusters. The next batch of free Epic Games Store games are always revealed on Thursdays at 10 a.m. CT, and it’s likely the store will stick with that for the month of October.

As of this writing, Epic Games Store free games are Rise from Hell and Killed: Back from Hell, both of which will be available until October 13 at 10 a.m. CT. At the moment, Rise from Hell and Killed: Back from Hell will be replaced by ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groovewhich will be the Epic Games Store free games offering from October 13 to 20, when it will be replaced by one or two other free games.

Epic Games Store users won’t have any idea what the next round of free games will be until the end of the week, but a pattern has been established that they could fit in very well with the Halloween season. For years, the Epic Games Store has offered several horror-themed free games for the month of October, and although ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove doesn’t really fit the mold, it seems likely that things will get back on track for the rest of the month.

In previous years, the Epic Games Store offered horror games like Alan Wake: American Nightmare, Observer, Layers of fear, Amnesia: a machine for pigs, Blair Witch, Among the sleepand DARQ: complete edition in October. Apart from horror games, the Epic Games Store also used the month of October to offer more family-themed games after the season, such as the two costume quest Games, Ghostbusters: The Remastered Video Gameand Stubbs the zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse.

So far in October, the Epic Games Store has already offered two games that correspond to the Halloween season, Rise from Hell and Killed: Back from Hell. But based on previous years, Epic Games Store users are likely to expect even more seasonally appropriate games, especially as the Halloween holiday draws closer. Anyone can guess what those other free Epic Games Store games for October 2022 might be, but there are plenty of solid options out there and users will find out in the days and weeks to come.
